Lenny Kravitz: Stevie is Wonderful

Lenny Kravitz was "sucked in" by Stevie Wonder.

Lenny recently returned to the music scene with his tenth studio album, Strut. When it comes to his own favourite record of all time, the 50-year-old cited a release by a singing legend as his top choice.

"Innervisions by Stevie Wonder. It was the first album that really touched me as an album - it sucked me in," Lenny gushed to Manhattan magazine. "Also, I listened to it with my mother in NYC and that was very special to me."

The rock star has dipped his toes into the film world with features such as Zoolander and The Hunger Games. Rather than having a favourite area to work in, Lenny embraces the differences and the things they ask of him.

"Acting has nothing to do with me, which is what I love about it," he said. "It's about serving a character and a director's vision. And I get to collaborate with so many people - actors, directors. It's a completely different experience for me, and it's great."

The singer was born and raised in the Big Apple before moving to Los Angeles with his family, aged ten. He often returns to his hometown and isn't fazed by the city's quirky antics and residents.

"Nothing, New Yorkers are like cockroaches; you can't keep 'em down," he smiled when asked what surprises him about people who live in the city.

"I visited recently and didn't recognise my block! There are condos and white people. Not to be racial, but when I was there it was only blacks and Puerto Ricans."

Lenny has garnered a large following over the years, which has resulted in some weird situations.

"A woman broke into my house in Miami, went into my kitchen and ate my cousin's sweet potato pie," he recalled about the craziest thing a fan has ever done. "She told me she was my wife and was there to save me. It was crazy."
