Chris Pratt Runs For His Life In Latest Jurassic World Pic

Running towards, or running from? It says something about the heroic nature of Chris Pratt that we can’t entirely tell which direction he’s heading in the latest official image from Colin Trevorrow’s Jurassic World.

 

OK, fine. The message in the official Tweet states that something is “chasing†Chris Pratt’s dinosaur park ranger, Owen Grady, and it passes along the very helpful advice of “RUN.†That likely won’t be an issue, and most people tend to hit the ground running once the shit strikes the fan in Jurassic Park sequels. What we don’t entirely know yet is WHAT Pratt’s sprinting away from? As Bryce Dallas Howard explains in a different social media post, the new Jurassic theme park has created nature’s “first genetically modified hybrid.†But that turns out to be a terrible idea.

The reason that I initially questioned if Chris Pratt could be running toward danger is because that’s what’s implied at the end of this outstanding trailer, where Pratt’s character takes what looks like a team of velociraptors into the jungle to hunt this modified dino threat. As Pratt mentions in that clip, the new dinosaur is “killing for sport.†So he tells – someone – that they are going after it with everything they got. It sounds like the set up for an incredible summer blockbuster adventure, one that wasn’t quite 20 million years in the making… but you get the idea.

Jurassic World is set decades after the events of the original film, where a new theme park exists built around the many dinosaur creations imagined by John Hammond. Unlike the trial Jurassic Park, this new Jurassic World runs successfully… except, life finds a way to royally screw things up. Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard lead an ensemble that also includes Ty Simkins, Nick Robinson, Irrfan Khan, Vincent D'Onofrio, Jake Johnson, Omar Sy, BD Wong, and Judy Greer. The park opens for business on June 12.
