North Korea is reported to be developing Russian-made electromagnetic pulse weapons aimed at disabling all the electronic equipment in the neighboring South Korea.
 

Such announcements normally come from the office of Kim Jong-Un and are not trusted, but this time they come from the South Korean spooks – they have spotted the technology being deployed. Media reports reveal that the National Intelligence Service published a report saying to Parliament that the North Korea had purchased Russian electromagnetic pulse weaponry to develop its own versions.

Such weapons damage electronic equipment and may even cause damage to aircraft. Apparently, at a press of a button Kim Jong-Un is able to switch off every tablet and smartphone in the South Korea. Kim Jong-Un considers cyber-attacks as an all-purpose weapon along with nuclear weapons and missiles and seems to be trying to hack into smartphones and lure South Koreans into becoming informants. In the meantime, North Korea is believed to run an elite cyberwarfare unit of 3,000 people and staged thousands of hacker attacks against the South Korea in recent years, which resulted in financial losses of around $805 million.
