The vocals on You Were Meant For Me and Foolish Games are horrendous on the initial release of the album. I made sure the torrents were of this version. She re-recorded them for the single versions radio stations would and still play. Wikipedia says after 2 years the album was re-released with the single versions, but I dunno if that's true. I'm curious what version you'd get if you find this in a store if it still can be found new.

Anyway, as always I'm just intrigued that by changing one thing you can have either a masterpiece or disaster. If she never re-recorded the songs I wonder if she would have made it like she did. I assume the whiny-as-hell album versions are her vision and she re-recorded them at the request of a label person. Selling out is a good thing sometimes.

I dunno if they changed the pitch to avoid copyright notices, but the vocal delivery is what to be examined. I discovered all this a few years ago, when I was listening to my sister's copy of the CD and wondering what was wrong.

Also, fans of the flashbulb will find the sample to "air nad adrian" on this album.

So they turn the 85% against the righteous teacher. This is how they've been able to kill the prophets, kill their communities. Because the leaders, who are the Bloodsuckers of the poor, have control over the minds of the masses, and they feed the masses more lies about a righteous teacher so that the Righteous Teacher will be persecuted by the 10%, not helped by the 85%, so that they can kill the Righteous Teacher

I love pop punk. The things I love about punk- pretense of politics, posturing, identity- all that shit takes a backseat to catchy hooks. I remember seeing Joyce Manor in the news for speaking out against stagediving at a show. they were mocked pretty hard on the internet; for being lame, for not being punk enough, for sounding like Weezer. And to me, that's kind of the point. 

If growing older has taught me anything, it's that being lame is fine, and the scene needs dudes standing at the back of the venue, keeping out of the pit because work starts at 7 the next day.
