Three movie pirates nabbed in Hyderabad, India

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Cybercrime police on Wednesday arrested three persons on charges of infringement of copyright and for cheating and extorting producers of the Sai Dharam Tej starrer ‘Jawaan’.

The arrested persons were identified as P Sudhakar Chowdary, 31, from Hyderabad and native of East Godavari; P Prabhakar Chowdhary, 38, from East Godavari and Y Vijaya Nag, 37, from Nagpur.

According to the police, the film’s makers said that recently just before the release of the film, a few people approached them claiming they had good contacts with top pirates, and that they could prevent piracy of the movie. They also allegedly demanded money if they were not to upload High Definition prints of the movie on the internet, police said.

Based on a complaint from the filmmakers, a case was booked and during investigation, the three were nabbed from Yousufguda.

They were produced before court which remanded them in judicial custody. Police are verifying the gang’s involvement in similar cases.
