Banning uTorrent

uTorrent Ban

A security bug was recently discovered in uTorrent, as a result of that, we are initiating a ban on the client.

uTorrent 3.x
The bug can be used to 'steal' torrents and passkeys. This was fixed in the latest buid of uTorrent 3.5.3 (build 44358), everything before this build is banned effective immediately.

uTorrent 2.x
We don't see any reason to ban uTorrent 2.x at this moment. However we might revise this ban in the future.

uTorrent for Mac 1.8.7
We don't see any reason to ban uTorrent for Mac at this moment. However we might revise this ban in the future.

We strongly recommend that all uTorrent users switch to another torrent client.

Switching to another client
Because blacklisting uTorrent is a huge inconvenience to some of you, we've produced a tutorial that explains how to easily migrate all of your torrents to qBittorrent or Deluge. This works for both uTorrent 2.x and 3.x. Check it out: here.
