Nintendo Switch Hardware Hack Perfected by FailOverflow, Definitely Prone to Piracy

Recommended Posts

The Nintendo Switch had long been rumored to get a series of software hacks that worked on older versions of the software, but unfortunately, Nintendo was quick to fix these with a quick firmware update to negate the process, well it seems that the software wars are over as FailOverflow, one of the most renowned groups of device hackers on the planet, have released the schematics for a full-fledged Nintendo Switch Hardware Hack.

The author of the GitHub is working on the launcher for the exploit, and as such also helps cement the claim that this is indeed happening!

It is official, if we are to by the groups post on GitHub, this is a game changer and should definitely prompt Nintendo to release the next hardware revision of the Nintendo Switch sooner rather than later.

The Nintendo Switch Hardware Hack, is it for Real?

The group has gone on twitter and proudly proclaimed their victory. The purpose of the weird looking device is to give the user full access to the Bootrom of the console, meaning it Nintendo is no longer the captain of their ship.

To make matters worse, the Nintendo Switch Hardware Hack also prohibits future updates from being installed, so you never have to worry about future updates getting installed by accident.

Keep in mind, this is going to open the floodgates to piracy, and how this will affect Nintendo Switch sales is yet to be determined.

As you can see, this is some truly disconcerting news, and now that the hardware hack has been released, there is nothing to stop pirates said for FailOverflow making this public knowledge which they have promised to share in the coming days.

While the group hasn’t specified whether this would affect the consoles online capability, considering how PS3’s and Xbox 360’s have been able to go online, it would be curious to see if the allowance of homebrew will pave the way for hackers in our games or something similar.
