Film piracy rages in India despite movie industry's efforts

Tamizh Padam 2 which has hit the theatres yesterday and have garnered positive reviews from critics and viewers, leaked on the notorious piracy site TamilRockers. In a shocking announcement, the makers of the film had announced in the first look of the poster that the film would be available for the free download on the torrent site on the day of its release. Even after the film industry across the world has put all their efforts to curb piracy, just the hours after Tamizh Padam 2 release, the film was leaked online in different qualities for free download.

Shiva’s humour and dialogue delivery are one of the major highlights of the film. Critics and audience have called the movie hilarious and a stress buster. Following the good reviews, the makers were expecting the film to break box-office record, but now it seems like piracy will play a significant role in the downfall of film’s box-office collection.

It has to be noted that nowadays almost all Indian films are being leaked online within a day of its release and there have been instances when the movies have leaked even before their release. The piracy rate has increased with a higher percentage over the past few years across the globe.

However, the anti-piracy unit of Tamil Film Producer’s Council is leaving no page unturned to curb the piracy and notably it has put down many websites and multiple domains of TamilRockers.
