New U.K. pop band opens at No. 10 on Billboard 200 with Somebody To You EP.

U.K. pop band The Vamps make a splash at No. 10 on the Billboard 200 with their debut EP, Somebody to You. The quartet's effort sold 20,000 copies in the week ending Aug. 10, according to Nielsen SoundScan, and is the fifth EP to debut in the top 10 this year. A year ago at this point, no EPs had arrived in the top 10. On the Aug. 16 chart, Shawn Mendes' self-titled EP arrived at No. 5. It falls to No. 32 in its second week.

The Vamps' EP was widely available as a digital download, but its physical version had a limited release. It sold at retailers Justice and Claire's, through the band's website and at merchandise stands during the group's tour. (In total, 82 percent of the set's first week was from downloads.)

Over on the Social 50 chart -- which ranks the most popular artists on social networks -- The Vamps hit a new peak, rising 22-18, thanks to buzz generated by the EP's arrival. During the tracking week, the quartet was up 16 percent in overall Social 50 chart points. Much of that sum was generated by reaction to the band's Instagram feed, which tallied 4 million likes during the week (up 24 percent).

While the group has a top 10 album and is ranked in the top 20 on the Social 50, they have yet to translate that success into a hit single. The EP's title track, which features Demi Lovato, is bubbling under the threshold of the Mainstream Top 40 airplay chart. It collected 83 plays from seven stations for the week, according to Nielsen BDS.

The act will wrap up a concert tour with Austin Mahone and Fifth Harmony on Aug. 20 before heading back home for a headlining tour. That trek, dubbed Meet the Vamps 2014 Tour, launches Sept. 23 in Sheffield, England.
