Tim McGraw Scores 50th Hot Country Songs Top 10

The star marks a major milestone, while wife Faith Hill makes a triumphant return to the top 10 herself.

As Tim McGraw's "Meanwhile Back at Mama's," featuring wife Faith Hill, jumps 11-7 on Billboard's Hot Country Songs chart, each artist celebrates notable achievements.

McGraw notches his landmark 50th top 10, a mark that only five other acts have achieved. Dating to his first week in the upper region more than 20 years ago ("Indian Outlaw" flew 14-9 on March 26, 1994), he widens his lead for the most top 10s among all acts, distancing himself further from runner-up George Strait, who's totaled 47 top 10s in that span. Since Oct. 20, 1958, when Billboard's various country songs charts merged into one all-inclusive list, Strait leads with 86 top 10s; McGraw ranks sixth.

Hill ends a seven-year absence from the upper tier; she'd last visited the top 10 with the couple's "I Need You," which peaked at No. 8 on Aug. 4, 2007. Hill had last reached the top 10 on her own eight years ago with "Sunshine and Summertime" (No. 7, 2006).

"Mama's" adds top Digital Gainer stripes on Hot Country Songs with a 54 percent increase to 43,000 downloads sold, its best sales week, according to Nielsen SoundScan. It returns to the Country Digital Songs top 10 (14-7) for the first time in four months; it debuted at No. 9 on April 26.

'DOWN' STILL UP: Jason Aldean leads Hot Country Songs for a third straight week with "Burnin' It Down," which also becomes his first No. 1 (3-1) on Country Streaming Songs (2.3 million U.S. streams, up 24 percent, according to Nielsen BDS). The track tops Country Digital Songs for a third consecutive week with 107,000 downloads sold; it's moved 405,000 to date. 

 

WHERE'S 'WHERE'?: Dustin Lynch scores top Airplay Gainer honors on Hot Country Songs with "Where It's At (Yep, Yep)," which bullets at No. 14 for a third week. It steps 9-8 on the Country Airplay chart with an 11 percent gain to 36 million audience impressions. 

BIG 'TOWN': Brantley Gilbert ropes the Streaming Gainer trophy on Hot Country Songs (21-16) with "Small Town Throwdown," featuring Justin Moore and Thomas Rhett. The song logged a 297 percent surge to 750,000 streams during its first complete seven-day tracking week (Aug. 4-10) following the Aug. 1 premiere of its official video. Of the song's total weekly streams, 46 percent are from Vevo on YouTube, with 29 percent via Spotify.

BRYAN'S SONGS: Luke Bryan's Crash My Party returns to No. 1 on Top Country Albums (3-1) for a 12th cumulative frame, selling 19,000 during the tracking week, up 37 percent, according to SoundScan. The set has sold 2.1 million units to date.

With its dozen-week domination, Crash My Party ties Aldean's My Kinda Party(2011) for the longest reign by a solo male in more than a decade. With 14 weeks on top in February-May 2004, Kenny Chesney stands as the last male to lead for longer, with When the Sun Goes Down.
